A Song of Freedom

This is very similar to my last project. I enjoyed carving that dictionary so much that I wanted to do another one, but thicker this time. So I went with an old Websters College dictionary for this project. This is the thickest book I have carved so far and I love how the great depth and many layers give this piece a very pleasing look. The only drawback that I have found is that the many layers make it difficult to photograph. For that reason, I must clarify that it looks exponentially better when seen with the naked eye than it does in these amateur photographs.

The truth is, I will probably do more similar to this eventually. Working with art feels good, but mixing selected words into that art feels even better (for me).
